Psychotherapists experience with the use of the reflecting team in consultation

Abstract:

The thesis examines the experience of psychotherapists, who are using reflecting teams in their practices. The main aim of the thesis is to map the possibilities and limitations of working with reflecting teams through the psychotherapist’s perspectives. Introductory chapters presents the theoretical concept of a reflecting team, it‘s historical and epistemological background, recent use of the reflecting team and reflect the recent research of reflecting processes from psychotherapist's perspective. Conversational partners in the inquiry were six psychotherapists coming from different professional contexts (private practice, social services, health care). The semi-structured interviews were used as the main research method. Their content and direction was inspired by participant observation of author, who was participating as a reflecting member. Thematic analysis conducted on the two levels was used for data analysis. In order to capture individual meanings and contexts of psychotherapists, the individual cases were firstly analyzed. Secondly, the analysis of similar and different themes across the experience of individual psychotherapists are presented. In conclusion, the results are discussed with respect to the existing literature.

Abstract:

Diplomová práca sa zaoberá skúsenosťou psychoterapeutov, ktorí vo svojej praxi využívajú reflektujúce tímy. Jej cieľom je bližšie zmapovať možnosti a limity práce s reflektujúcimi tímami z perspektívy psychoterapeutov. Úvodné kapitoly predstavujú teoretický koncept reflektujúceho tímu, jeho historické a epistemologické pozadie, súčasné spôsoby využívania reflektujúceho tímu a reflektujú doterajší výskum v oblasti reflektujúceho procesu z psychoterapeutovej perspektívy. Konverzačnými partnermi v skúmaní boli šiesti psychoterapeuti pochádzajúci z rozličných pracovných kontextov (súkromná prax, sociálne služby, zdravotníctvo). Hlavnou metódou výskumu boli pološtrukturované rozhovory, ktorým predchádzalo zúčastnené pozorovanie autorky v roli reflektujúcej členky. K analýze dát bola využitá tématická analýza prebiehujúca na dvoch úrovniach. Z dôvodu zachytenia individuálnych významov a kontextu jednotlivých psychoterapeutov v prvom rade na úrovni individuálnych prípadov. V druhom rade autorka prezentuje analýzu podobných a odlišných tém naprieč skúsenosťou jednotlivých terapeutov. V závere sú výsledky diskutované s ohľadom na existujúcu literatúru.
