Big data and their importance for tourism

Abstract:

Moderní technologie pronikly za dobu svého vývoje do všech odvětví na světě. Jinak tomu není ani u cestovního ruchu, jehož význam ve světové ekonomice neustále roste. Tento zvyšující se trend cestování s sebou přináší nejen pozitivní, ale i negativní dopady, především pak na přírodní a kulturní prostředí destinací. Specifikem cestovního ruchu je skutečnost, že ho nelze tak jednoduše zachytit ve statistickém sledování. Jednou z možností, jak vylepšit statistiku cestovního ruchu jsou geolokační signalizační data pocházející z mobilních sítí, které představují při správném vytěžení kvalitní zdroj informací o mobilitě osob. Stále se zvyšující počet mobilních zařízení fungujících na sítích generuje stále větší objemy dat a tlačí tak na rozvoj infrastruktury. Rešerše zdrojů představuje problematiku big data, statistické sledování cestovního ruchu. Data z obou metod jsou komparována s aplikací na turistickou oblast Krkonoše. Metoda analýza geolokačních signalizačních dat představuje moderní metodu statistiky cestovního ruchu, která dokáže doplnit současné metodiky a informační zdroje využívané řídícími orgány, destinačními společnostmi a dalšími aktéry cestovního ruchu.

Abstract:

Modern technologies have penetrated all sectors of the world during their development. This is not the case with tourism, whose importance in the world economy is constantly growing. This increasing trend of travel brings with it not only positive but also negative impacts, especially on the natural and cultural environment of destinations. The specificity of tourism is the fact that it cannot be so easily captured in statistical monitoring. One of the ways to improve tourism statistics is geolocation signaling data from mobile networks, which, when used properly, represent a quality source of information on the mobility of people. An ever-increasing number of mobile devices operating on networks generate ever-increasing volumes of data and thus push for the development of infrastructure. Resource search presents the issue of big data, statistical monitoring of tourism. Data from both methods are compared with the application to the tourist area of the Giant Mountains. The method of analysis of geolocation signaling data represents a modern method of tourism statistics, which can supplement the current methodologies and information sources used by managing authorities, destination companies and other tourism actors.
