Social support and problematic internet use among university students staying in dormitories or in privates and living at home

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá sociální oporou a problematickým používáním internetu u studentů VŠ. Teoretická část se věnuje sociální opoře a jejím poskytovatelům, základními východisky problematického používání internetu a studentům VŠ. Cílem práce bylo zjistit a porovnat rozdíl v míře problematického používání internetu u studentů VŠ bydlících na internátech a privátech a bydlících doma. Dále jsme u studentů zkoumali vztah mezi sociální oporou a problematickým používáním internetu. Výzkumný soubor tvořili respondenti (19 -30 let) bydlící na internátu či privátu (n=70) a bydlící doma (n=60). Ke sběru dat jsme použili dotazník problematického používání internetu GPIU2 (Caplan, 2010), sociální opory MSPSS (Zimet, 1988) a několik vlastních otázek. Sběr dat byl realizován elektronicky. Byla zjištěna korelace mezi některými faktory sociální opory a problematického používání internetu. Při srovnání složek sociální opory a problematického používání internetu mezi oběma skupinami se objevilo několik rozdílů, celkově se však obě skupiny nijak významně nelišily.

Abstract:

The thesis is about social support and problematic internet use among university students. The theoretical part of the work is about social support and its providers, basic issues of problematic internet use and university students. The aim of the study was to determine and compare the difference in the rate of problematic internet use among university students students staying in dormitories or in privates and living at home. Futhermore, we investigated the relationship between social support and problematic internet use among university students. The researched sample consisted of respondents (19 ? 30 years) staying in dormitory or in private (n=70) and living at home (n = 60). For collecting responses, we used a questionnaire of problematic internet use GPIU2 (Caplan, 2010), the scale of social support MSPSS (Zimet, 1988) and a few our own questions. The data were collected electronically, online. Correlations have been found between some factors of social support and problematic internet use. When we were compairing the components of social support and problematic internet use among our two groups, we found some differences among our two groups, but generelay, the diferences between groups were not significant.
