Development strategy for a fitness center

Abstract:

Závěrečná práce se zabývá rozvojovou strategií fitness centra. Cílem práce je analyzovat jeho současný stav, identifikovat klíčové faktory úspěchu a navrhnout pro něj optimální rozvojovou strategii. Práce zahrnuje teoretickou část, která se zaměřuje na vymezení pojmu strategie a její implementace, které strategické nástroje se nabízí k použití, a jaké je jejich praktické využití pro podnik. Vymezen je i pojem fitness, kdy se s ním poprvé lidstvo setkalo a jaká byla jeho cesta od samotné Antiky až po současnost. Zmínka je také o podnikání v oblasti fitness, jaké jsou možnosti založení fitness centra a jaká existují případná zajištění týkající se jeho provozu. V praktické části jsou aplikovány strategické nástroje, které byly teoreticky popsány v první části. Využity byly PEST a SWOT analýzy, za účelem zjištění stavu jak okolí, tak i podniku samotného přes jeho silné a slabé stránky. Zanalyzována byla i konkurence z důvodu vytvoření takové strategie, která zkoumané fitness centrum udrží konkurenceschopné. Na základě analytické části jsou poté autorkou práce navrženy konkrétní kroky pro růst a zlepšení pozice fitness centra na trhu. Díky datům o návštěvnosti i prodeji permanentek ve fitness centru je v práci zmíněna i pravděpodobná budoucí predikce o tom, jakým směrem se může podnik uchylovat.

Abstract:

The thesis is focused on a development strategy for a fitness center. The main task is to analyze the current state, identify key factors to success and propose an optimal development strategy. Distinctive parts of the thesis include the theoretical chapter, which is predominantly focused on the definition of a strategy and its respective implementation. Moreover, the theoretical chapter offers analysis of strategic tools that are available for implementation within an organization. Not only the tools but also the idea of fitness, especially the historical connotation, are discussed. Last but by no means least, the chapter briefly touches upon the fitness industry, what the options for opening a center are and what tasks lie ahead for those attempting to enter the business. The practical chapter applies the strategic tools laid in the theoretical chapter. In order to identify strengths and weaknesses of the fitness center, the analysis focuses on the background factors as well as the organization itself. In addition, the analysis covers the identification of the main competitor. This should allow for the creation of a more competitive strategy but also the business in general. Most importantly, the thesis outlines several steps that will grant growth and improve the position of the business in the market. With the help of sales data from the past, the thesis also offers a projection of future sales and what the possible scenarios are.
