Development of trade in the Czech Republic after 1989

Abstract:

Cílem práce je vymezit charakteristické rysy rozvoje zahraničního obchodu České republiky po roce 1989. V práci je provedená analýza dynamiky vývozu a dovozu, komoditní a teritoriální struktury obchodní bilance ČR od roku 1989. Jsou popsána hlavních vládní opatření v době transformace a jejich dopady z pohledu změn v ukazatelích zahraničního obchodu ČR. Vývoj ekonomiky a zahraničního obchodu ČR od roku 1989 je rozdělen do několika hlavních fází, pro nichž byla charakteristická odlišná vládní opatření a odlišná situace v oblasti zahraničního obchodu. Je provedená analýza a jsou vymezeny specifické rysy vývoje komoditní a teritoriální struktury zahraničního obchodu ČR. Jsou ověřeny dopady devalvace národní měny v 90. leta na podporu českého vývozu. Z pohledu vybraných ukazatelů je zhodnocen význam zahraničního obchodu pro ekonomiku ČR. V návrhové části práce jsou na základě získaných znalostí o vývoji zahraničního obchodu v ČR vyjádřeny vlastní názory na to, jak by bylo možné snížit negativní dopady transformačních procesů. Některé z uvedených doporučení, např. tykající vzdělávání manažerů jsou aktuální i dnes.

Abstract:

The aim of the thesis is to define the characteristics of the development of foreign trade of the Czech Republic after 1989. The thesis analyzes the dynamics of exports and imports, commodity and territorial structure of the Czech trade balance since 1989. Describes the main government measures at the time of transformation and their effects in the indicators of foreign trade of the Czech Republic. The development of the Czech economy and foreign trade since 1989 is divided into several main phases, which were characterized by different government measures and a different situation in the field of foreign trade. An analysis is performed and specific features of the development of the commodity and territorial structure of the Czech Republic's foreign trade are defined. The effects of the devaluation of the national currency in the 1990s on the support of Czech exports are verified. From the point of view of selected indicators, the importance of foreign trade for the Czech economy is evaluated. In the design part of the work, based on the acquired knowledge about the development of foreign trade in the Czech Republic, own opinions are expressed on how it would be possible to reduce the negative impacts of transformation processes. Some of the above recommendations, such as the training of managers, are still relevant today.
