The Work of Juan Marsé

Abstract:

In our thesis we deal with life and work of catalan writer Juan. We are especially focused on the typical characters of his work, ?losers? and their cause. In relation we mencion the social-historical-political context which is the main cause of failure of those characters and which must be known to analyze texts written by the writer. We also analyze the influence of the family and society they are educated in on these protagonists and the fact of being orphans. In his work Juan Marsé judges the ideals of the society he lives in, he criticizes it without judging the political situation of his country. Marsé uses all the resources possible to laugh to bourgeoisie and their situation and ideals. He ironically ridicules ?losers? and their dreams. Juan Marsé belongs to the Generation of 1950 and there are evident innovations of lexicon and stylistics in his work.

Abstract:

V naší diplomové práci se zabýváme životem a dílem katalánského spisovatele Juana Marsého. Zaměřujeme se obzvláště na postavy charakteristické pro jeho dílo ?ztroskotance? a jejich příčinu. V souvislosti zmiňujeme také sociálně-historicko-politický kontext, který je hlavní příčinou neúspěchu těchto postav a který je třeba znát pro analýzu textů tohoto spisovatele. Analyzujeme jaký vliv na tyto postavy má jejich rodina, společnost, ve které jsou vychováváni a fakt, že jsou sirotky. Ve své práci Juan Marsé odsuzuje ideály společnosti, ve které žije, kritizuje ji, aniž by odsuzoval politickou situaci své země. Marsé využívá veškerých možných zdrojů, aby se smál buržoazii a jejich postavení a ideálům. Ironicky zesměšňuje ?ztroskotance? a jejich sny. Juan Marsé se řadí mezi Generaci 50.let a v jeho díle jsou patrné inovace jak z hlediska lexika, tak stylistiky.
