Emotional Regulation at Younger School Age Children

Abstract:

Tématem diplomové práce jsou emoce a emoční regulace dětí mladšího školního věku navštěvujících školní družinu na vybraných základních školách ve Vsetíně. V teoretické části se zaměřuje na vymezení základní terminologie, klasifikaci lidských emocí a jejich funkce. Druhá kapitola se zabývá vývojem emocí, prožíváním emocí a emoční regulací. O emoční inteligenci a zvládání úzkosti, obav a stresu u dětí mladšího školního věku pojednáváme ve třetí kapitole. Pozornost věnujeme tomu, jak tyto emoce mírnit, jaké jsou strategie pro zvládání stresu dětí. Hlavním cílem výzkumu je zjistit, na základě vlastního empirického zkoumání, zda existuje významný rozdíl v míře zjevné úzkosti u dětí mladšího školního věku.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the emotions and emotional regulation of younger school aged children attending an after-school clubs at selected primaryschools in Vsetín. The theoretical part focuses on defining of basic terminology, classification of human emotions and their function. The second chapter deals with the development of emotions, experiencing emotions and emotional regulation. The emotional intelligence and management of anxiety, worry and stress of younger school aged children are discussed in the third chapter. Attention is paid to moderation of these emotions and to the strategies for coping with the children´s stress. The main objective of the research is to determine, based on our own empirical investigation, whether there is a significant difference in the degree of apparent anxiety of younger school aged children.
