The Left Party in Sweden and its Position in the Far Left Party Family

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je věnována analýze genetického vývoje a ideového profilu švédské Levicové strany. Výzkumný záměr sleduje dvě hlavní výzkumné otázky. První představuje zjištění, zda současná identita Levicové strany dovoluje považovat tuto stranu za člena stranické rodiny krajní levice. Druhou z hlavních výzkumných otázek je snaha lokalizovat umístění strany v rámci prostoru této stranické rodiny. Práce byla rozdělena do čtyř částí. První část se věnuje představení konceptu stranické rodiny a jeho místu v politologickém výzkumu politických stran. Na základě představení přístupů různých autorů ke konceptu stranické rodiny byla jako nejdůležitější kritéria práce při klasifikaci Levicové strany zvolena ideově-programová orientace a kritérium genetického původu. Ve druhé části bylo provedeno deskriptivní vymezení stranické rodiny krajně levicových stran, přičemž byla akcentována geneze této stranické rodiny, její proměny, současná podoba, ideově-programová identita a rozčlenění prostoru rodiny. Třetí část se věnovala aplikaci konceptu stranické rodiny na analýzu profilu Levicové strany. Nejdříve byl přiblížen vznik a vývoj strany a následně byla analyzována současná ideově-programová identita Levicové strany. Získané informace posloužily k závěrečnému zhodnocení, jež ve čtvrté části, shrnulo zjištění předchozích částí a odpovědělo na výzkumné otázky práce. Na základě analýzy programatiky strany bylo konstatováno, že Levicová strana jednoznačně naplňuje kritéria, jež umožňují zařadit tuto stranu do rodiny krajně levicových stran. Následný pokus identifikovat bližší postavení Levicové strany v prostoru stranické rodiny krajní levice nás z hlediska kritéria ideově-programové identity vedl k zařazení Levicové strany mezi demokratické socialistické strany. Analýza genetického kritéria ukázala, že vztah přinejmenším části tradicionalistického křídla strany ke komunistickému dědictví nelze charakterizovat jako jeho naprosté odmítnutí, což vzbudilo jisté pochybnosti o možnosti klasifikovat stranu jako demokratickou socialistickou. V závěru jsme se nicméně i přes jisté pochybnosti nalezené při analýze genetického kritéria přiklonili k zařazení Levicové strany jako krajně levicové demokratické socialistické strany, protože i přes jisté rozpory, jež byly identifikovány ve vztahu politiků Levicové strany k historickému dědictví strany, nepřerostly tyto dosud do programatiky strany ani do jejích mobilizačních strategií a postoj strany k problematickým aspektům jejího historického dědictví zahrnoval po jejich veřejném odhalení vždy omluvu a uznání, že tyto postoje byly chybné, což jen dále demonstruje, že si je Levicová strana sama dobře vědoma, že přesun k stranickému typu reformních komunistických stran by ji mohl připravit o relevanci v rámci švédského stranicko-politického systému.

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the analysis of the genetic evolution and ideological profile of the Swedish Left Party. The main research aim follows two main research questions. First, constitutes decision, whether it is appropriate to classify the Swedish Left Party, according to its current identity, as a member of the far left party family. The second research question focuses on the effort to localize location of the party within the space of the far left party family. The thesis is divided in four parts. The first part focuses on the introduction of the notion of the party family and its position within research of the political parties. Following presentation of various approaches of different authors to this concept, genetic origin and ideology and policies are chosen as the most important criteria for the classification of Left Party into party families. In the second part, the descriptive delimitation of the far let party family was carried out. There were accentuated evolution of the party family and its metamorphoses, current shape, ideological-programmatic identity and segmentation of the party space. The third part was devoted to application of notion of the party family in the analysis of the Left Party profile. At fisrt, we had introduced genesis and evolution of the party and then we analysed current ideological-programmatic identity of the Left Party. Acquired information served for the final evaluation, which in the fourth part, summarized previous findings and answered the research questions. On the basis of the programmatic analysis, we concludes that it is appropriate to classify Left Party as a member of the far left party family. In resulting effort to identify more accurately Left Party position within far left party family, we classify, according to ideological-programmatic identity, Lefty Party as democratic socialist party. However, genetic origin analysis demonstrates, that affinity at least part of the tradicionalist party wing to communist legacy is not possible to characterize as its absolute dismissal. This fact aroused some doubts about possibility to classify Left Party as democratic socialist party. In conclusion, however, we decide, even through some doubts founded in genetic origin analysis, to classify Left Party as far left democratic socialist party, because even through some contradictions in the relation of the Left Party politicians to historical legacies of the party, this contradictions have not broke out into Left Party programmatics, neither party's mobilization strategies. An party attitude to problematical aspects of its historical legacies in addition at any time has included, after public detection, apologies and recognition, that these positions were erroneous. Even this fact illustrates, that Left Party is aware of fact, that shift to the reform communist party type, would be able to cause loss of Left Party relevance within Swedish party-political system.
