Domestic violence against women in sociological perspective

Abstract:

Tato práce se v hlavní části zabývá vysvětlením příčin vzniku, rozvoje a trvání domácího násilí na ženách v kontextu sociologických teorií zabývajících se vysvětlením násilí v rodině. První část práce se věnuje obecným charakteristikám domácího násilí na ženách: definicím, znakům, kterými se projevuje, formám a jeho typům. Poté, pomocí rešerše výzkumů zabývajících se výskytem domácího násilí, realizovaných na území České republiky, reflektuje výskyt domácího násilí na ženách v české společnosti a vývoj postojů české populace k tomuto jevu. V další části této práce je domácí násilí ukázáno jako nežádoucí, sociálně – patologický jev odchylující se od společenské normy, a to pomocí pojmů norma a normalita, deviace, konformita a sociální patologie. Hlavní část této práce je věnována přehledu sociologických teorií, které se pokoušejí o vysvětlení vzniku a rozvoje násilí na ženách v partnerských vztazích. Každá teorie představuje různý úhel pohledu na příčiny vzniku dané problematiky a společně s teoriemi psychologickými, tvoří komplexní celek aspirující na vysvětlení výskytu domácího násilí na ženách ve společnosti.

Abstract:

This work concentrates mainly on the explanation of the causes, development and duration of domestic violence against women in the context of sociological theories, which explain family violence. The first part deals with the general characteristics of domestic violence against women: definitions and characteristics, which manifest its different types. Further on, using summaries of research, which dealt with the occurrence of domestic violence, implemented on the case of the Czech Republic, reflects the occurrence of domestic violence against women in Czech society and the change of attitudes of Czech population towards this phenomenon. In the next part of the work, domestic violence is shown as an undesirable, social and pathological phenomenon deviating from social norms, using the concepts of norm and normality, deviance, conformity and social pathology. The main part of this paper gives an overview of sociological theories that attempt to explain the emergence and development of violence against women in partner relationships. Each theory presents a different perspective on the causes of the problem and together with psychological theories, is a complex work aspiring to explain the prevalence of domestic violence against women in society
