Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce nabízí detailnější pohled do geopolitického konfliktu známý jako Studená válka a jakým způsobem chtěly Spojené státy udržet status quo ve světě po Druhé světové válce. Práce na začátku krátce popisuje studenou válku, důvody proč k ní došlo a jaké byly první kroky Ameriky k udržení komunismu. Dále se práce zaměřuje na jak Ameriku změnily její dřívější konflikty, začínaje Válkou o nezávislost konče Druhou světovou válkou. Hlavním cílem práce jsou nejvýznamnější konflikty Studené války, jak je chtěly Spojené státy vyřešit, celkový postoj Ameriky vůči Sovětskému svazu a jak Studená válka skončila.

Abstract:

This thesis provides a closer look into the geopolitical conflict known as the Cold War and how the United States wanted to maintain the status quo in the world post-WWII. In the beginning it briefly describes the conflict, the reasons why it happened and what were the first steps the United States decided to make towards stopping the communism. The thesis then continues to analyse how was America changed and affected by the wars from the Revolutionary war until the end of the WWII. The main focus of the thesis is on the most significant Cold War conflicts, American steps to resolve those, and the overall stance of the United States in the face of the Soviet Union during the Cold War and how the war ended.
