Empirical verification of the Austrian business cycles theory

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou rakouské ekonomické školy, se zaměřením na její teorii hospodářských cyklů. Přináší přehled o jejím historickém vývoji a shrnuje přínos této školy pro ekonomickou teorii. Součástí práce je přehled klíčových prací provedených ekonomy této školy soustředěných na krátkodobé i dlouhodobé analýzy hospodářství vybraných světových ekonomik. Praktická část diplomové práce se zaměřuje na ověření teorie hospodářského cyklu v kontextu s analýzou expanzivní měnové politiky centrální banky, a to na příkladu dlouhodobého ekonomického vývoje ekonomiky Spojených států amerických.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the Austrian school of economics, focusing on its theory of business cycles. It provides an overview of its historical development and summarizes the main contributions of this school to economic theory. Part of the thesis is an overview of key works carried out by economists of this school, focused on short-term and long-term analyzes of the selected world economies. The practical part of the thesis focuses on the verification of the economic cycle theory in the context of the analysis of the central bank expansionary monetary policy, using the long-term economic development of the American economy.
