Quality of seniors´ life as a social category

Abstract:

Diplomová práce na téma "Kvalita života seniorů jako sociální kategorie" je teoreticko-výzkumná práce. Teoretická část se věnuje poznatkům týkajícím se stáří a stárnutí. Definuje obecné charakteristiky seniorské populace, popisuje možné reakce člověka na stáří a zároveň poskytuje informace o přípravě na stáří a konceptu aktivního života v pokročilém věku. Dále se zabývá problematikou demografického stárnutí populace včetně predikce dalšího demografického vývoje v České republice a ve světě. Také popisuje a vysvětluje pojmy týkající se teoretického vymezení kvality života jako sociální kategorie, popisuje různé rozsahy a přístupy ke kvalitě života a její dimenze, v neposlední řadě se zabývá kvalitou života seniorů. V závěru podává přehled o současné situaci zdravotních a sociálních služeb, které mohou senioři v České republice využívat. Ve výzkumné části jsou rozebrány výsledky dotazníkového šetření, které zjišťovalo subjektivní vnímání vlastní kvality života seniorů v Pardubickém kraji.

Abstract:

Diploma thesis on "The quality of life of seniors as a social category" is the theoretical and research work. The theoretical part deals with the information related to the old age and aging, defines general characteristics of the senior population, describes possible reactions to aging, and at the same time, it provides the information about preparing for the old age, as well as the concept of active life in this age. Moreover, it deals with the issue of demographic aging of the population, including the prediction of further demographic development in the Czech republic and the world as well. It also describes and explains concepts related to the theoretical definition of the quality of life as a social category, describes various ranges and approaches to the quality of life and its dimensions, and finally, it deals with the quality of life of seniors. In conclusion, it provides the overview of the current situation of health and social services that can be used by seniors in the Czech republic. In the research part, the results of the survey, which found out the subjective perception of own quality of life of seniors in the Pardubice region, are mentioned.
