Sources of financing and fundraising of non-profit organizations providing social services in the Ústí nad Labem Region

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je orientována na nestátní neziskové organizace, jejichž předmětem činnosti je poskytování sociálních služeb. Cílem práce je definovat možné zdroje financování a zároveň analyzovat a porovnat metody či strategie fundraisingu vybraných neziskových organizací poskytujících sociální služby v Ústeckém kraji. Zároveň vytvořit určitá doporučení pro případné zlepšení fundraisingových aktivit. K naplnění cíle byl využit kvalitativní výzkum, konkrétněji polostrukturované rozhovory s pracovníky managementu a fundraisingu. Dále byla využita analýza sekundárních dat - výroční zprávy a webové stránky vybraných organizací. V rámci teoretického ukotvení bylo nutné vymezit neziskový sektor ČR, který rozlišuje nestátní neziskový sektor od státního neziskového sektoru. Na základě tohoto vymezení bylo možné definovat zdroje financování, které vychází z veřejných a neveřejných (soukromých) prostředků. Práce se opírá o teoretická východiska fundraisingu, která jsou potřebná zejména v identifikaci uplatňovaných metod či strategií. Je zde identifikováno a porovnáno celkem osm fundraisingových metod a čtyři strategie, které vychází ze základní typologie fundraisingu.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis is oriented on non-state non-profit organizations, whose subject of activity is the provision of social services. The aim of the thesis is to define possible sources of funding and at the same time to analyze and compare fundraising methods or strategies of selected non-profit organizations providing social services in the Ústí nad Labem region. At the same time, to create some recommendations for possible improvement of fundraising activities. Qualitative research, more specifically semi-structured interviews with management and fundraising staff, was used to fulfil the objective. In addition, analysis of secondary data, annual reports and websites of selected organisations was used. As part of the theoretical anchoring, it was necessary to define the non-profit sector of the Czech Republic, which distinguishes the non-state non-profit sector from the state non-profit sector. Based on this definition, it was possible to define the sources of funding, which are based on public and non-public (private) funds. The thesis is based on the theoretical background of fundraising, which is needed especially in identifying the methods or strategies applied. A total of eight fundraising methods and four strategies are identified and compared, based on a basic fundraising typology.
