Business intelligence solutions for enterprise performance management

Abstract:

Cílem práce je vyzkoumat a argumenty podpořit návrh business intelligence řešení pro supermarketový řetězec, které bude sloužit pro analýzu výkonnosti kategorie tisku. Práce je rozdělena do tří částí, kdy každá staví na konceptech a problematice popsané v částech předchozích. Teoretická část definuje disciplíny business intelligence a performance managementu, popisuje typickou BI architecturu a reporingové metody. Dále je pak popsána problematika vyhodnocování benefitů a nákladů BI a jaké jsou kritické aspekty BI implementací. Analytická část vyhodnocuje business dynamiku v maloobchodu a jak se promítá do potřeb pro rozhodovací schopnosti podniku. Jsou popsány typické procesy pro podporu prodeje. Po vyhodnocení průzkumů specifických potřeb maloobchodních společností, je představen konkrétní BI nástroj. Praktická část analyzuje případovou studii implementace BI nástroje pro optimalizaci kategorií produktů v supermarketu. Vyhodnoceny jsoo business motivy, analytické problémy, náklady, benefity a rizika. Nakonec, je představen prototyp dashboardu včetně datového modelu a případů užití.

Abstract:

The goal of thesis is to research and substantiate a business intelligence solution for a retail grocery chain used for performance analysis in category of press. The work is divided into three main parts, where each builds on the concepts explained and problematics described in the previous part. The theoretical part defines fields of business intelligence and performance management, describes a typical BI architecture and reporting methods. It also describes the problematics of evaluating benefits and costs of BI and what are the critical aspects of BI implementations. The analytical part evaluates business dynamics of retail and how it affects the need for decision-making capabilities. Typical processes for merchandising are described. After evaluating surveys about the specific needs in retail companies, a specific BI tool is introduced. The practical part analyzes a business case for implementation of the BI tool for optimization of category management in a retail grocery chain. Business drivers, analysis issues, costs, benefits and risks are evaluated. Lastly, prototype of a dashboard including data model and use cases.
