Abstract:

Bakalářská práce: Britská zahraniční politika v Súdánu a oblasti horního Nilu na konci 19. století, se na začátku zabývá situací Britského impéria v Severní Africe před vypuknutím povstání v Súdánu. Dále se práce zaměřuje na mahdího povstání i samotný mahdismus a anglicko-súdánskou válku až do zániku mahdího říše roku 1899.Následně se věnuje britsko-francouzskému sporu o oblast Horního Nilu, jenž vyvrcholil ve Fašodskou krizi. Cíl práce je posouzení dopadu těchto událostí na další mezinárodní politiku před 1. světovou válkou.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis "British Foreign Policy in Sudan and region of the Upper Nile at the End of the 19th Century" deals with the situation of the British Empire in North Africa before the rebellion in Sudan. After that the thesis focuses on the Mahdi uprising, Mahdism itself and the Anglo-Sudanese War until the end of Mahdi's empire in 1899.Subsequently, it deals with the British-French dispute over the Upper Nile, which culminated in the Fashoda Incident. The aim of this work is to assess the impact of these events on other international policies before the First World War.
