Problematics of swelling soils in construction of transport structures

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou objemově nestálých zemin, zkoumá typické jevy provázející jílovité zeminy, tedy bobtnání a smršťování. Práce se zaměřuje na identifikaci bobtnání a smršťování pomocí přímých i nepřímých metod. V práci je popis experimentálního měření vybraných zemin, zahrnující stanovení základních fyzikálních a hydrofyzikálních vlastností, zrnitosti zemin, konzistenčních mezí, bobtnacího potenciálu, bobtnacího tlaku a meze smrštění. Práce porovnává výsledky nepřímých metod oproti přímým metodám a vyjadřuje chybovost daných metod. Součástí práce je také popis a sanace poruch dopravních staveb v důsledku objemových změn.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with swelling soil, examines typical phenomena resulting in clay soils, ie swelling and shrinkage. Thesis is focused on the identification of swelling and shrinkage using both direct and indirect methods. The thesis describes experiments on some specific soils, determines their basic physical and hydrophysical properties, grain size curves, consistency limits, swelling potential, swelling pressure and shrinkage limit. The thesis compares the results of indirect methods with direct methods and expresses the error rate of the given methods. Part of the thesis is the description and remediation of transport structures failures due to volume changes.
