Linguistic situation, language policy of a selected French-speaking European country (except France) and specificities of local French

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis concerns linguistic situation and specificities of French language of Kingdom of Belgium, mainly specificities of French spoken in Belgium. The theoretical part of the thesis presents principal characteristics of the country and the linguistic situation regarding historical evolution. Afterwards, the thesis presents language policy and languages used in the Belgian territory. The second part of the thesis is focused on lexical specificities of local French. The aim of the research is to examine the knowledge of some Belgian expressions among French people.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá lingvistickou situací a specifiky francouzského jazyka Belgického království, především pak specifiky belgické francouzštiny. Teoretická část poskytuje základní charakteristiky země a lingvistickou situaci s ohledem na historický vývoj. Poté je v práci vysvětlena jazyková politika a představeny jazyky (jak oficiální, tak neoficiální) používané na území Belgie. Druhá část práce se soustředí na lexikální zvláštnosti místní francouzštiny. Výzkum, provedený formou dotazníku, má za cíl prozkoumat znalost některých belgických výrazů mezi Francouzi.
