Expression of the Posteriority in Spanish: Competition of Linguistic Means in the Belles-Lettres Style

Abstract:

This bachelor`s thesis deals with the grammatical and lexical means of expression of the posteriority in Spanish. The aim was to compare these devices with each other and to find out which are more frequently used in contemporary prose texts. In the theoretical part, we divided these means using different Spanish grammars. Then we classified the linguistic devices into the two categories we created. In the practical part, we worked on quantifying and comparing the frequencies of the resources found in our corpus, which was created from the texts of four books written by Spanish-language authors between 1990 and 2022. Thanks to the analysis, we found that the use of verb tenses (future simple tense and simple conditional) prevails over the verb periphrasis ir and + infinitivo. These periphrases made 21.72% of all the linguistic devices of the texts, the mentioned verbal tenses created 71.64% of all the linguistic devices studied. Furthermore, it was also tested that the future simple tense was more frequently used to express the future than the present tense.

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá gramatickými a lexikálními prostředky pro vyjádření posteriority ve španělštině. Jejím cílem bylo tyto prostředky mezi sebou porovnat a zjistit, které se v současných prozaických textech využívají častěji. V teoretické části jsme si tyto prostředky rozdělili za pomocí různých španělských gramatik. Do vytvořených dvou kategorií jsme pak zařadili jednotlivé jazykové prostředky. V praktické části jsme se pak věnovali kvantifikaci a porovnání frekvencí nalezených prostředků v našem korpusu, který vznikl z textů čtyř prozaických knih napsaných španělsky píšícími autory mezi lety 1990 a 2022. Díky analýze jsme zjistili, že převažuje využití slovesných časů (budoucího jednoduchého času a jednoduchého kondicionálu) nad slovesnou perifrází ir a + infinitivo. Tyto perifráze tvořily 21,72 % všech lingvistických prostředků textů, zmíněné slovesné časy představovaly 71,64 % všech studovaných jazykových prostředků. Dále také bylo vyzkoumáno, že se častěji pro vyjádření budoucnosti používá budoucí čas jednoduchý než čas přítomný.
