Social Policy Reform in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá vývojem sociální politiky v České republice od počátku devadesátých let dvacátého století po současnost. První část obsahuje reformu sociální politiky po tzv. Sametové revoluci 1989. Druhá část se zabývá srovnáním České a Slovenské republiky pomocí vybraných makroekonomických ukazatelů - míra nezaměstnanosti, HDP a inflace a procesem zavádění Eura v ČR a SR. Třetí část pojednává o slovenských reformních snahách a jejich úspěších. Ve čtvrté části se zabývám potřebami prohloubení sociální reformy z důvodu vysoké zadluženosti a neudržitelnosti stávajícího důchodového systému a popisuji vládní a opoziční návrh na sociální reformu z roku 2007, současný stav reforem a reformní plány nové vlády vzniklé z voleb 2010.

Abstract:

The Thesis deals with development of social policy in the Czech Republic since the early 90s of twentieth century until nowadays. The first part describes the social policy reform after the Velvet Revolution in 1989. The second part deals with comparasion of the Czech Republic and the Slovak Republic in the fields of unemployment rate, GDP, inflation and process of addoption of Euro. The third part describes Slovak reforms and their achievements. The fourth part deals with a need of deepen reform effort because of high indebtedness of public finance and unsustainable pension system. It aslo describes government and opposition proposals of the social policy reform from 2007, the present reform status and reform plans of the new government in 2010.
