The importance of non-financial information for stakeholders

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá informacemi v rámci nefinančního výkaznictví. Jejím cílem je zhodnotit význam nefinančních informací podniku pro jednotlivé skupiny externích uživatelů. V teoretické části práce jsou vymezeny pojmy a problematika týkající se nefinančního reportování. Dále se tato část věnuje ESG reportingu, skupinám stakeholderů a jejich požadavkům na nefinanční informace firem. Praktická část se nejprve zabývá vyhodnocením dotazníkového šetření pro vybrané skupiny externích uživatelů, kterými jsou zákazníci, zaměstnanci, banky, pojišťovny a jiné finanční instituce a vlastníci a akcionáři. Z odpovědí vyplynulo, že skupiny zákazníci a zaměstnanci se v problematice nefinančních informací příliš neorientují, avšak nefinanční informace i přesto považují za důležité a často vstupují do jejich rozhodování. Skupiny banky, pojišťovny a jiné finanční instituce a investoři s nefinančními informace více aktivně pracují a rovněž považují za důležité, aby firmy tyto informace zveřejňovaly. Dále se praktická část věnuje analýze nefinančních zpráv vybraných společností podnikajících v energetickém sektoru a následnému zhodnocení na základě předem stanovených požadavků stakeholderů na nefinanční informace firem v energetickém sektoru. Společnosti ČEZ, a.s. a GasNet, s.r.o. mají s vydáváním nefinančních zpráv již zkušenosti a splňují všechny požadavky. Společnosti MND, a.s. a E.ON Energie, a.s. se zveřejňováním zpráv o udržitelnosti teprve začínají a splňují téměř všechny požadavky, avšak jejich zprávy nejsou tak detailní a neobsahují mnoho konkrétních ukazatelů. Poslední vybranou společností je firma Pražská energetika, a.s., která nevydává zprávu o udržitelnosti a v rámci nefinančních informací z jiných zdrojů jsou znát nedostatky nefinančních informací především v oblasti životního prostředí.

Abstract:

This master thesis focuses on non-financial information. The goal of the thesis is to assess the relevance of the company's non-financial information for different groups of stakeholders. The theoretical part of the thesis defines the concepts and issues related to non-financial reporting. Furthermore, this section focuses on ESG reporting, groups of stakeholders and their requirements for non-financial information. The practical part first deals with the evaluation of the questionnaire survey for selected groups of stakeholders, which are customers, employees, banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions and owners and shareholders. The responses showed that customers and employees are not very knowledgeable about non-financial information, but still consider non-financial information important and it often enters into their decision making. Banks, insurance companies and other financial institutions and investors are more proactive with non-financial information and also consider it important for companies to disclose this information. Furthermore, the practical part is devoted to the analysis of non-financial reports of selected companies operating in the energy sector and the subsequent evaluation based on the predetermined requirements of stakeholders for non-financial information of companies in the energy sector. Companies ČEZ, a.s. and GasNet, s.r.o. are already experienced in issuing non-financial reports and meet all requirements. MND, a.s. and E.ON Energie, a.s. are just starting to publish sustainability reports and meet almost all the requirements, but their reports are less detailed and do not contain many specific indicators. The last company is Pražská energetika, a.s., which does not issue a sustainability report and there are gaps in non-financial information from other sources, especially in the environmental area.
