Project Proposal and Use of Participatory Budgeting in the City of Staré Město

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se dotýká současného trendu transparentního rozpočtování a blíže se věnuje problematice jeho implementace v různých geopolitických oblastech, dále informuje o způsobech možného využití této rozpočtové strategie a vyčleňuje možné hrozby v rámci celého procesu tohoto demokratického nástroje. Práce blíže specifikuje a popisuje možnosti implementace konceptu participativního rozpočtování do rozvojové strategie města Staré Město na základě vypracovaných analýz z ekonomické, geopolitické a demografické oblasti. Cílem práce je pak koncipovat projekt, který by vycházel z teoretických znalostí ve vztahu s řešenou problematikou, z analytických výstupů a z polostrukturovaných rozhovorů na tuto tematiku s představiteli města.

Abstract:

The thesis touches upon the current trend of transparent budgeting and takes a closer look at its implementation in different geopolitical areas, informs about the possible uses of this budgeting strategy and highlights possible threats within the whole process of this democratic instrument. The thesis specifies and describes the possibilities of implementing the concept of participatory budgeting in the development strategy of the city of Old Town based on the analyses made in the economic, geopolitical and demographic areas. The aim of the thesis is then to conceive a project based on theoretical knowledge in relation to the issue at hand, on analytical outputs and on semi-structured interviews on this topic with city representatives.
