Educational process in a patient with obesity

Abstract:

Obezita je v současné době nazývána epidemií 21. století. Dochází ke zvyšování počtu lidí, kteří nadváhou a obezitou trpí. Obezita je rizikovým faktorem pro vznik řady onemocnění. Součástí léčby obezity je edukace pacienta, která je jednou z nejdůležitějších kompetencí všeobecné sestry. V motivaci a vedení pacienta ke změně životního stylu má vhodně zvolená edukace zásadní význam. Cílem bakalářské práce bylo navržení a realizace edukačního procesu u pacienta s obezitou. Dílčím cílem bylo zjistit, zda dojde vhodnou edukací ke zlepšení u onemocnění souvisejících s nadváhou. Zjistit, zda častější kontroly, edukace a vhodné intervence povedou ke změně životního stylu a redukci hmotnosti pacienta. Edukace byla rozčleněna na tři edukační lekce, které byly postupně realizovány formou edukačního procesu. Edukace byla vedena v ambulanci praktického lékaře. Pro tuto práci byla vytvořena edukační brožura, která poskytuje pacientům s obezitou základní informace z oblasti léčby a opatření vedoucí k ovlivnění obezity. Brožura může být dále využita v praxi k edukaci dalších pacientů.

Abstract:

Nowadays, obesity is called an epidemic of the 21st century. The number of people suffering from overweight and obesity is increasing. Obesity is a risk factor for the development of a whole range of diseases. Patient education, which is a part of a treatment of obesity, is one of the most important competencies of nurses. Suitable patient education is fundamental to motivation and leading a patient to the change of lifestyle. The aim of the bachelor thesis was to create a proposal of educational process for obese patient and its implementation. The sub aim was about finding out if the suitable education can lead to the improving of condition of the diseases related to obesity. And also ascertain that more frequent checkups, education and right intervention will lead to the change of lifestyle and reduction of a patient´s weight. Education was divided into three educational lessons which were gradually implemented by educational process. Education was implemented in general physician´s practice. An information booklet was made for the purpose of my bachelor thesis. The booklet provide basic information for obese patients about the obesity treatment and precautions that can influence the condition of obesity. The booklet can be further used for the education of other patients.
