Oscillation Theory of Higher Order Half-Linear Differential and Difference Equations

Abstract:

Tato práce je z větší části věnována odvozování neoscilačních kritérií pro pololineární diferenciální a difereční rovnice sudého řádu, mimo jiné i pro pololineární diferenciální a diferenční rovnice sudého řádu Eulerova typu. Například pro dvoučlennou rovnici pololineární diferenciální rovnici sudéhořádu Eulerova typu \begin{equation*} (-1)^n \left(t^\alpha\Phi\left(x^{(n)}\right)\right)^{(n)} + \gamma \, t^{\alpha-np} \Phi(x) = 0 \end{equation*} stanovíme konstantu $\gamma_{n,p,\alpha}$ takovou, že tato rovnice je neoscilatorická, pokud $\gamma > -\gamma_{n,p,\alpha}$ (kde $n \in \mathbb{N}$, $\gamma \in \mathbb{R}$, $\alpha \in \mathbb{R} \setminus \mathcal{M}_{n,p}$ a $\Phi(s) := |s|^{p-1} \mathop{\mathrm{sgn}} s$ pro $s \in \mathbb{R}$). Kritéria jsou stanovena užitím variačního principu a diskrétní kritéria jdou dále rozšířena prostřednictvím teorie regulárně se měnících posloupností. Jedna kapitola je věnována určení podmínek pro \mbox{koeficienty} určité pololineární diferenciální rovnice vyššího řádu, tj. podmínek, za kterých energetický funkcionál asociovaný s touto rovnicí nabývá záporné hodnoty; takový energetický funkcionál se nazývá superkritický.

Abstract:

This work is devoted mainly to obtaining nonoscillation criteria for the even order half-linear differential and difference equations, among others for the even order half-linear differential and difference equations of Euler type. For example, for the two-term Euler type half-linear differential equation \begin{equation*} (-1)^n \left(t^\alpha\Phi\left(x^{(n)}\right)\right)^{(n)} + \gamma \, t^{\alpha-np} \Phi(x) = 0 \end{equation*} we establish the constant $\gamma_{n,p,\alpha}$ such that this equation is nonoscillatory if $\gamma > -\gamma_{n,p,\alpha}$ (where $n \in \mathbb{N}$, $\gamma \in \mathbb{R}$, $\alpha \in \mathbb{R} \setminus \mathcal{M}_{n,p}$ and $\Phi(s) := |s|^{p-1} \mathop{\mathrm{sgn}} s$ for $s \in \mathbb{R}$). The criteria are derived using the variational principle and the discrete criteria are further extended via the theory of regularly varying sequences. One chapter is devoted to searching conditions on the coefficients of a certain higher order half-linear differential equation under which the energy functional associated with this equation attains a negative value; such energy functional is called supercritical.
