Comparison of public transport in Prague, Warsaw and Budapest from the tourists point of view

Abstract:

Se zvyšujícím se počtem návštěvníků v městských turistických destinacích roste také důležitost městské dopravy. Cílem diplomové práce je na základě analýzy fungování a současného stavu městské hromadné dopravy v hlavních městech České republiky, Polské republiky a Maďarska zhodnotit podmínky pro její využití turisty a porovnat stav v jednotlivých městech. S využitím údajů ze sekundárních zdrojů je zpracována základní charakteristika měst včetně pohledu z úhlu cestovního ruchu. Zmapován je rovněž také současný stav a způsob fungování městské dopravy v jednotlivých městech, a to z pohledu systému organizace dopravy, tarifního systému, vozového parku či nabídky pro účastníky cestovního ruchu. Na základě zjištěných skutečností je zpracována komparace městské hromadné dopravy v Praze, Varšavě a Budapešti z pohledu turistů. S využitím získaných poznatků jsou zpracovány návrhy a doporučení ke zkvalitnění a zvýšení konkurenceschopnosti jednotlivých provozů MHD.

Abstract:

As the number of visitors to urban tourist destinations increases, so does the importance of urban transport. The aim of the diploma thesis is to analyze functioning and current state of public transport in the capitals of the Czech Republic, Poland and Hungary, to evaluate the conditions for its use by tourists and compare the situation in those cities. Using data from secondary sources, the basic characteristics of cities are formulated, including a perspective from the tourism point of view. The current state and way of functioning of urban transport in cities is also mapped, from the point of view of the system of transport organization, tariff system, vehicle fleet or offer for tourism participants. Based on the findings, a comparison of public transport in Prague, Warsaw and Budapest from the perspective of tourists is made. Using the acquired knowledge, recommendations for improving and increasing the competitiveness of each public transport systems are suggested
