Cílem této práce je zmapovat americký přístup a subsidiárně i přístup jejich evropských spojenců k vnitřnímu dění uvnitř Sovětského svazu v průběhu roku 1991. Pozornost je však věnována i předchozím událostem, díky nimž došlo ve zmiňovaném roce ke konci studené války a rozpadu SSSR. The thesis focuses on mapping American approach and also deals with the approaches of his European allies to internal events in the USSR. It pays attention to the antecedents which caused the end of Cold war and disintegration of the USSR in the same year either.
