Teaching robotics using Lego WeDo and Scratch

Abstract:

Diplomová práce je zaměřena na vytvoření učebních materiálů v programovacím nástroji Scratch v propojení s robotickou stavebnicí LEGO Education WeDo 2.0. V teoretické části je stručně přiblížen upravený obsah vzdělávací oblasti "informatika" a popsány možnosti a funkce zvoleného programovacího nástroje. Teoreticky je dále popsána vzdělávací robotická stavebnice výrobce LEGO, která obsahuje speciální stavebnicové prvky vhodné ke komunikaci s aplikací Scratch. Praktická část zahrnuje vytvořené úlohy určené pro podporu výuky algoritmizace a programování na 2. stupni základních škol. Úlohy jsou zpracovány ve formě metodického materiálu pro učitele a pracovních listů pro žáky. Následně jsou ověřeny v běžné výuce včetně vyjádření vyučujících. Výzkumná část se zabývá zjištěním zájmu o výuku robotiky mezi žáky.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis focuses on the development of teaching materials in Scratch programming tool in conjunction with LEGO Education WeDo 2.0 robotic construction kit. The theoretical section briefly describes modified contents, created for the education area of information technologies, and it also covers the features and functionalities of the above mentioned programming tool, as well as a theoretical description of the educational robotic construction kit manufactured by LEGO; the kit contains special building elements designed for communication with the Scratch application. The practical section consists of assignments developed as an aid for the purposes of algorithmization and programming teaching at the second level of primary schools. The assignments have the form of methodological materials for teachers and worksheets for students. As a follow-up, the assignments were tested in actual school classes, including feedback from teachers. The research section consists of an assessment of the level of interest in robotics lessons among primary school students.
