The wolf‘s return into the area of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce zkoumá postoje a reakce jednotlivých aktérů na návrat vlků do krajiny České republiky. Aplikační část práce popisuje a hodnotí postoj chovatelů koní, obyvatel měst a pracovníka AOPK ČR k návratu vlka obecného na území SP ORP Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. Data byla získána kombinací kvalitativních a kvantitativních metod výzkumu. Konkrétně se jednalo o dotazník a rozhovory. Hlavní závěry naznačují, že chovatelé koní nepociťují žádné problémy spojené s návratem vlka a respektují jeho přítomnost jako součást lokálního ekosystému. Obyvatelé měst se většinově staví k návratu vlka pozitivně, ale zároveň vyjadřují určitý strach. Pracovník AOPK ČR poskytl informace o fungování organizace v souvislosti s návratem vlků, včetně doporučení týkajících se ochrany hospodářských zvířat a analýzy škod způsobených velkými šelmami. Navrhuje se využití získaných poznatků pro další výzkum a potřeby AOPK ČR.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis examines the attitudes and reactions of individual actors to the return of wolves to the landscape of the Czech Republic. The application part of the thesis describes and evaluates the attitude of horse breeders, town inhabitants and the AOPK CR worker towards the return of the common wolf to the territory of the area of the municipality with extended competence Rožnov pod Radhoštěm. The data were obtained by a combination of qualitative and quantitative research methods. Specifically, it was a questionnaire and interviews. The main findings suggest that horse breeders do not experience any problems associated with the return of the wolf and respect its presence as part of the local ecosystem. Urban residents are mostly positive about the return of the wolf, but also express some fear. An AOPK CR staff member provided information on the organisation's work in relation to the return of wolves, including recommendations on livestock protection and analysis of damage caused by large carnivores. It is proposed to use the knowledge gained for further research and needs of the AOPK CR.
