The impact of the Venezuelan crisis on US relations

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je analyzovat dopady státní krize v Bolívarovské republice Venezuela na politickoekonomické vztahy se Spojenými státy americkými. Práce je časově vymezena od nástupu Huga Cháveze po konec března tohoto roku. V teoretické části práce jsou rozebrány politické režimy jednotlivých zemí, téma státní krize a charakteristika vůdcovství. V praktické části je z politicko – kulturního hlediska rozebrána historie Venezuely a Spojených států amerických před rokem 1999, poté je již popsána vyvíjející se vzájemná zahraniční politika obou států v komparaci s jednotlivými prezidenty, kteří byli v jednotlivých obdobích u moci. Druhá polovina praktické části analyzuje ekonomicky – politické dopady na vztah těchto dvou států. V této kapitole zároveň navrhuji jak politická, tak ekonomická řešení tohoto problému. V závěru práce je rozebráno zda vzájemný vztah Venezuely a Spojených států amerických ovlivnila venezuelská krize, či zahraniční politika hlav obou států.

Abstract:

The aim of the bachelor thesis is to analyse the effects of the state crisis in the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela on political and economic relations with the United States of America. The work is time-bound from the inauguration of Hugo Chavez to the end of March 2018. The theoretical section of the thesis analyses the political regimes of the individual countries, the theme of the state crisis and the characteristics of leadership. The practical section of the thesis focuses on the history of Venezuela and the United States prior to 1999 from a political and cultural perspective. Following on from this, a comparison is made between the progression of mutual foreign policies in both countries and their correlation with the individual presidents that were in power. The second half of the practical section then analyses the economic and political impacts on the relationship between these two counties. Within this chapter, both political and economic solutions to this problem are presented. In conclusion, an analysis is made as to whether the relationship between Venezuela and the United States is influenced prodominently by the Venezuelan crisis or by the foreign policy of the political leaders of the two countries.
