Abstract:

Diplomová práce „Geocaching“ se zabývá fenoménem této navigační hry a možnostmi jejího využití informačními pracovníky. Nejprve je vysvětlen princip hry, její historie, alternativy a možné nadstavby. Rovněž jsou přiblíženy různé typy keší včetně uvedení množství příkladů z praxe. Následně je popsána problematika trasovatelných a putovních předmětů. Další část je věnovaná popisu potřebného vybavení hráče, kam se řadí zejména internetové a softwarové aplikace a GPS přístroje. Poté následuje představení webových stránek geocaching.com, jejich struktura a funkce, zmíněny jsou výhody placeného členství. Opomenuty nezůstávají ani listingy keší a způsoby logování. Závěrečná část práce ukazuje možnosti využití geocachingu, nejprve v teoretické rovině a poté i na čtyřech modelových příkladech, při kterých je podrobně uveden proces realizace keše, krok za krokem.

Abstract:

The thesis “Geocaching” focuses on the phenomenon of this navigation game and the possibilities of its utilization by information specialists. At the beginning, the game principle, history, alternatives and potential superstructures are explained. In addition, various cache types are introduced and the number of examples from practice is stated. Furthermore, the topic of trackable and travelling objects is described. The following part is dedicated to the description of a player’s necessary equipment which includes, in particular, internet and software applications and GPS receivers. This section is followed by a presentation of the geocaching.com web site, its structure and function; in addition, advantages of paid membership are mentioned there. Moreover, information concerning cache listings and ways of logging are provided. The concluding part of the thesis shows the ways of geocaching utilization: first theoretically and then by means of four model cases which explain the cache execution process in detail, step by step.
