The function of clothing as a means of self-expression

Abstract:

Práce zkoumá oděv v různých kontextech, avšak její hlavní linií je oděv jako prostředek sebevyjádření. Odkazuje k módě jako proměnlivému kulturnímu socio-psychologickému fenoménu, jenž je zrcadlem každé společnosti. Móda určuje pravidla, stává se diktátem, kterému se někteří dobrovolně podřizují. Ovlivňuje ji mnoho dalších odvětví, jakým je např. sport nebo hudba. Cílovou skupinou pro mnoho oděvních společností je mládež, jež je významným determinantem módních trendů, neboť současná konzumní demokraticko-individualistická společnost uctívá kult mládí. Součástí práce je rozbor realizovaného výtvarného projektu se studenty 9.třídy na základní škole, jenž je jakousi socio-pedagogickou sondou pojednávající o problematice odívání adolescentů ve školním prostředí.

Abstract:

The thesis examines clothing from various points of view, however its main theme is clothing as a means of self-expression. It refers to fashion as an ever-changing socio-psychological phenomenon which is a mirror to every society. The fashion is setting the rules, it is becoming a dictate to which some people free willingly subordinate themselves. Fashion is influenced by many other parts of life such as sports or music. The Youth is the target audience for many clothing companies as young people are a significant determining factor for trends of fashion, and this due to the fact that the modern consumer oriented and democratic-individualistic society warships the cult of youth. A part of the thesis is an analysis of the project with students of Year 9 of an Elementary School which is a kind of a socio-paedagogical probe into the topic of adolescent clothing in a school environment
