Abstract:

This thesis will analyse the songs of Bob Dylan?s album Blood on the Tracks. It focuses on the stories of the songs and the development of the male characters. The analysis will concentrate on the lyrics of the songs; the music features of the songs are left out. The aim of the analysis is to show and demonstrate the wholeness of Dylan?s work and its contribution to the literary tradition. The thesis is divided into four chapters. First chapter will briefly introduce Dylan as an artist. In the following chapter, the album Blood on the Tracks will be prefaced, especially the connecting features of all songs and its acceptance by the critics. The third chapter deals with the analysis of the particular songs. And the last chapter will compare the lyrics of two existing versions of Blood on the Tracks.

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou písní Dylanova alba Blood on the Tracks (Krev ve Stopě). Práce se soustředí na příběhy v písních a vývoj mužských postav. Analýza se zaměřuje na text písní, hudební prvky jsou vynechány. Cíl této práce je ukázat na příkladech celistvost Dylanova díla a tím i jeho příspěvek do světové literatury. Teze jsou rozděleny do čtyř kapitol. První kapitola krátce uvede Dylana jako umělce. V následující kapitole bude představeno album Blood on the Tracks a jeho přijetí mezi kritiky. Analýzou jednotlivých písní se zabývá kapitola číslo tři. A poslední kapitola srovnává texty obou verzí alba.
