Women's Reaction to a Serious Oncological Diagnosis Announcement

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce Reakce ženy na sdělení závažné diagnózy se specificky zaměřuje na pro-blematiku onkogynekologických onemocnění nádory děložního hrdla a těla. Právě tyto karcinomy se společně s karcinomy prsu řadí na přední pozice statistik nejčastějších onko-logických onemocnění žen. Ačkoliv díky současné medicíně a také pokročilému systému prevence má mortalita na karcinomy dělohy klesající tendenci, faktem je, že s ohledem na invazivnost léčby (operativní odstranění ženských reprodukčních orgánů, radioterapie, příp. chemoterapie) se jedná o onemocnění, která zásadně ovlivní dosavadní život pacientek. Bakalářská práce se tak na teoretické úrovni věnuje anatomickým hlediskům a specifikům nádorů děložního těla a hrdla (včetně diagnostiky, léčby, incidence ad.) a dále také psycho-sociálním faktorům, které mohou být ženám nápomocny při vypořádávání se s nemocí. Praktická část práce potom prostřednictvím interpretativní fenomenologické analýzy mapu-je vlastní prožitky žen, které léčbu nádorového onemocnění dělohy absolvovaly. Cílem je poskytnout komplexní pohled na průběh léčby jejich očima a také ve vedlejším plánu poskytnout odpovědi na stanovené výzkumné otázky.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis "Response of a woman to a communication of a serious diagnosis" fo-cuses on the issue of oncogynecological diseases - cancers of the cervix uteri and of the corpus uteri. Together with breast cancers, these cancers rank front positions of statistics of the most common women oncological diseases. Thanks to modern medicine as well as an advanced system of prevention, mortality caused by the uterine cancer shows downward trend. However, the fact is that due to invasiveness of treatment (surgical removal of fe-male reproductive organs, radiotherapy, chemotherapy) the above mentioned type of cancer belongs among diseases which fundamentally influence the current life of patients. At the theoretical level, the presented bachelor thesis is thus devoted to anatomical aspects and particularities of the uterine cancer (including diagnosis, treatment, indication, etc.), as well as to psychosocial factors which may help women when dealing with their disease. Using the interpretative phenomenological analysis, the following practical part of this bachelor thesis maps experience of women who underwent treatment of uterine cancer. The aim is to provide a comprehensive view to the course of therapy through the eyes of the patients and - in the secondary plan - to provide answers to the defined research questions.
