The use of board games with the theme of the Second World War in the teaching of history

Abstract:

V diplomové práci se věnuji využití komerčně dostupných deskových her ve výuce dějepisu na střední škole. Tematicky se zaměřuji na události druhé světové války, protože výuka o tomto období bývá zastoupena na každé škole v rámci RVP. V úvodu rozebírám pojem hra a za pomoci vybraných autorů tento pojem přibližuji a definuji jeho význam pro společnost. Hlavní teoretická část je tvořena rozborem tří předem vybraných deskových her, které mají předpoklad pro pedagogické využití. V praktické části naleznete výzkum, který měl za cíl objevit nejen pozitivní dopad těchto her, ale zároveň upozornit na nástrahy, které při jejich využití hrozí. Výsledky výzkumu budou podrobeny bližšímu zkoumání a opatřeny komentáři. Celková práce může sloužit jako příručka pro každého pedagoga, který by chtěl deskové hry zahrnout do své výuky.

Abstract:

In my thesis, I focus on the use of commercially available board games in teaching history in high school. I focus thematically on the events of the Second World War, as teaching about this period, is usually represented in every school within the RVP. In the introduction, i discuss the concept of a game and use selected authors to introduce the concept and define its importance to society. The main theoretical part consists of an analysis of three pre-selected board games that have a prerequisite for pedagogical use. The practical part contains research that aimed to discover not only the positive impact of these games, but also to point out the pitfalls of their use. The results of the research will be further examined and commented upon. The overall work can serve as a guide for any educator who would like to incorporate board games into their teaching.
