Job satisfaction and stress of midwives in the hospital

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zmapovat pracovní spokojenost a pracovní stres porodních asistentek ve vybraných nemocnicích, zjistit, zda sociodemografické faktory ovlivňují pracovní spokojenost a stres a zda existuje vztah mezi pracovním stresem a pracovní spokojeností. Metodika: Zkoumaný soubor tvořilo 105 registrovaných porodních asistentek ze třech vybraných nemocnic Pardubického a Olomouckého kraje. Dotazníkové šetření bylo realizováno v období od 14. 4. do 14. 6. 2014 a pro sběr dat byly použity dva standardizované dotazníky ? MMSS (hodnocení pracovní spokojenosti) a NSI (hodnocení pracovního stresu). Výsledky: Celková pracovní spokojenost porodních asistentek našeho souboru byla hodnocena nadprůměrně, nejvíce spokojené byly porodní asistentky zaměstnané ve Fakultní nemocnici Olomouc. Nejlépe hodnotily respondentky spokojenost se spolupracovníky, nejméně spokojené byly s externími odměnami a výhodami. Největším zdrojem stresu byla pro porodní asistentky oblast organizační podpory a zapojení se, nejméně stresující bylo vyvážení rodiny a práce. Celkový stres hodnotily porodní asistentky jako průměrný a ve výskytu celkového pracovního stresu nebyl zjištěn mezi nemocnicemi žádný rozdíl. Signifikantní rozdíly byly ale zjištěny u položek organizační podpora a zapojení se, vyvážení rodiny a práce. Výzkumem bylo potvrzeno, že demografické faktory ovlivňují pracovní spokojenost a pracovní stres porodních asistentek, a že jednotlivé oblasti pracovního stresu negativně ovlivňují pracovní spokojenost. Závěr: Mezi jednotlivými nemocnicemi existují rozdíly ve výskytu pracovní spokojenosti a pracovního stresu. Sociodemografické faktory mají vliv na pracovní spokojenost a pracovní stres. Zároveň byl statisticky potvrzen vztah mezi pracovní spokojeností a pracovním stresem porodních asistentek. Abstract:

Purpose: Purpose of this study was maped the job satisfaction and the occupational stress of midwives in chosen hospitals, to find out whether the job satisfaction and the occupational stress are affected by social-demographical factors and whether exist a relationship between the occupational stress and the job satisfaction. Method: The examined file was comprised of 105 registered midwives from 3 chosen hospitals of Pardubice and Olomouc region. The questionnaire survey was realized in the period from 14. 4. to 14. 6. 2014 and for a collection of information were used two standardized questionnaires ? MMSS (McCloskey/Mueller satisfaction scale) and NSI (Nurse stress index). Results: The total job satisfaction of the midwives in our sample was evaluated above ? average, the most satisfied were the midwives working in University hospital Olomouc. The respondents marked as the highest the satisfaction with colleagues, as the lowest the satisfaction with external bonuses and benefits. The main source of stress for the midwives was the sphere of organizational support and involving, the lowest source of stress was the balance between a family and a job. The total stress was evaluated by the midwives as an average and there was discovered no difference between the hospitals in occurrence of the total occupational stress. There were discovered significan differences with items the organizational support and involving, the balance between a family and a job. The study confirmed that social-demographical factors affect the job satisfaction and the occupational stress of midwives and that single spheres of the occupational stress negatively affect the job satisfaction.
