Abstract:

Diplomová práce „CLIL in Very Young Learners“ si klade otázku, zda jsou žáci první třídy ZŠ schopni používat angličtinu v ostatních předmětech, případně do jaké míry. Práce zkoumá, zda jsou žáci schopni si získané znalosti uchovat a následně využít pomocí metody CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning), která se zaměřuje na výuku obsahu předmětů v anglickém jazyce. Teoretická část vysvětluje základní pojmy a základní rámec výzkumu. Jedná se zejména o definici mladších školních žáků, tedy dětí ve věku 6 až 7 let, dále pak popisuje výukové metody a učební strategie při získávání jazyka. Tato kapitola též rozebírá motivaci žáků. Její podstatnou část tvoří samotné vymezení metody CLIL, která je charakteristická propojením obsahového a jazykového učení. Praktická část je zaměřená na primární výzkum, v němž je aplikována a ověřována výuková metoda CLIL. Jejím obsahem je definování podmínek ve škole a třídě, dále charakteristika žáků a následuje část věnovaná projektu, který je založený na příběhu „O Jackovi a kouzelné fazoli“. Příběh je dětem přiblížen anglicky formou různých aktivit, které probíhaly v jednotlivých předmětech. Žáci si vedli svá portfolia, odpovídali na otázky učitele a na závěr vyplnili dotazník. Na základě těchto poznatků byl vyvozen výsledek projektu.

Abstract:

In Diploma thesis “CLIL in Very Young Learners” the main emphasis is put on finding out whether the pupils in the first class at primary school are able to use English in some other subjects and to what extent. It focuses on whether the pupils are able to retain certain knowledge with the help of the CLIL(Content and Language Integrated Learning) programmes and, also, whether they can use the knowledge thereafter. The theoretical part concentrates on the explanation of the main terms. Firstly, it is focused on description and specifics of very young learners – children aged from 6 to 7 years. Then, there are certain systems, methods and learning strategies while learning a language mentioned as well as motivation of children. The last subchapter in the theoretical part deals with the principal term CLIL. The practical part focuses on the research done for a proof and reinforcement of the theoretical part. There was a research project based on the story Jack and the Beanstalk. This part includes certain subchapters dealing with the conditions at school and in the classroom, the definition of the classroom and the pupils, the description and procedure of the research project followed by the analysis and, finally, the evaluation of the project. To evaluate the research project the pupils made notes in their portfolios, they created a poster that serves as a feedback as well.
