Sovereign rating as a financial risk indicator (methodology and usage)

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se hlavně zabývá postupy třech světových ratingových agentur při udělení suverénního ratingu. Práce je rozdělena do tří kapitol. První část práce je zaměřena na vymezení pojmu rating a suverénní rating, historii a činnost ratingových agentur, rozlišení mezinárodního a lokálního ratingu závazků. Dále je uvedena ratingová škála s rozdělením na investiční a spekulativní stupeň. Druhá kapitola má zaměření na proces tvorby suverénního ratingu a zejména přístup agentury Moody's. Poslední část je věnována defaultním studiím, ve které jsou popsány příčiny defaultů v Rusku, Řecku a na Kypru.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the sovereign rating methodology, which is used by the three main international rating agencies. The thesis has been divided into three parts. The first part focuses on the rating definition and sovereign rating definition, the history of the rating agencies and their activities, the differences between the global rating and national rating scales. Then the investment and speculative grades will be described, which are the part of the global rating scale. The second part deals with the sovereign rating process, mainly focusing on Moody's agency methods. The last part is devoted to default studies and the causes of default in Russia, Greece and Cyprus.
