Celtic culture in Roman world and aspects of its development

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá obrazem Keltů na základě záznamů v dobových dílech. Pro uvedení do světa Keltů předkládá ve stručnosti archeologické poznatky zkoumaného období. Dále popisuje vývoj percepce Keltů a keltské kultury do pozdní antiky a raného středověku. Soustřeďuje se především na Galii, Británii a Irsko. S tím souvisí role irských mnichů na přelomu starověku a středověku v rámci zaznamenávání dědictví, stejně jako jejich misie na kontinentální Evropu.

Abstract:

This bachelor work works with picture of Celts based on the view of the ancient authors. In order to introduce the world of the Celts, it briefly presents the archaeological findings of the period under study. It describes the devolepment in perception of Celts and their culture throughout late antiquity and early Middle Ages. Its focus is mainly on Gaul, Britain and Ireland. Related topic is the role of irish monks at the turn of the antiquity and the Middle Ages in the manner of keeping celtic heritage, and their missionary work on continental Europe.
