Neural mechanisms of memory and methods of investigation

Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je zpracovat přehled současných poznatků a metod, které jsou spojené s výzkumem neurálních mechanismů paměti a s podmiňováním u bezobratlých živočichů. Práce představuje komplexní souhrn nejčastěji používaných podmiňovacích metod, běžných modelových organismů používaných k pokusům a popis neurálních mechanismů paměti, ke kterým při podmiňování v nervové soustavě dochází. Práce ukazuje, že poznatky získané při zkoumání bezobratlých modelů přispívají k poznávání cest a mechanismů ukládání informací do paměti, většina z těchto cest ale zatím zůstává nevyjasněná. První část práce je věnována vzniku paměťové stopy a ukládání informací do nervového systému, další část se pak zabývá jednotlivými mozkovými strukturami, které nalezneme v nervové soustavě bezobratlých. Třetí část popisuje metody, které objasňují pochody v nervové soustavě při podmiňování, závěrečná kapitola obsahuje výběr nejčastěji používaných modelových organismů.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to present an overview of the knowledge and methods that are associated with neural mechanisms of memory and conditioning in invertebrate animals. The thesis presents a complex summary of most commonly used conditioning methods, most frequent model organisms used for experiments and description of neural mechanisms of memory necessary for conditioning in the nervous system. The thesis shows that knowledge gained from the research of invertebrate models contributes to the identification of ways and mechanisms of storing information, but most of these paths remain unclear. The first part of the work is devoted to the creation of a memory trace and the storage of information in the nervous system, the next part deals with the individual brain structures found in the neural system of invertebrates. The third part describes methods investigating the processes in the nervous system during conditioning, the final chapter contains a selection of the most frequently used model organisms.
