The Role of Industrial Zones in the Development of Peripheral Regions: A Case Study of the Holešov Industrial Zone

Abstract:

Pro svou bakalářskou práci jsem zvolila téma "Role průmyslových zón v rozvoji periferních regionů: případová studie průmyslové zóny Holešov". Práce je strukturována na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části se věnuji základním pojmům a definicím v oblasti přímých zahraničních investic, průmyslových zón a periferních regionů jak v obecném kontextu, tak i v kontextu Česka. Praktická část je věnována jednopřípadové interpretativní studii Strategické průmyslové zóny Holešov. Nejprve charakterizuje Obec s rozšířenou působností Holešov, a následně přináší detailní analýzu Strategické průmyslové zóny Holešov, zahrnující její vznik, charakteristiku a současné fungování. Hlavní zjištění naznačují, že průmyslová zóna Holešov má určitý potenciál přispět k ekonomickému růstu a snížení nezaměstnanosti v regionu. Závěrem práce je zhodnocení případové studie a samotných dopadů průmyslové zóny na rozvoj regionu.

Abstract:

For my bachelor's thesis, I chose the topic "The role of industrial zones in the development of peripheral regions: a case study of the Holešov industrial zone". The work is structured into a theoretical and a practical part. In the theoretical part, I deal with basic terms and definitions in the field of foreign direct investment, industrial zones and peripheral regions both in the general context and in the context of the Czech Republic. The practical part is devoted to a one-case interpretative study of the Holešov Strategic Industrial Zone. First, it characterizes the Municipality of Holešov with extended scope, and then provides a detailed analysis of the Strategic Industrial Zone of Holešov, including its origin, characteristics and current functioning. The main findings indicate that the Holešov industrial zone has a certain potential to contribute to economic growth and the reduction of unemployment in the region. The conclusion of the work is the evaluation of the case study and the very effects of the industrial zone on the development of the region.
