Inclusive writing in the French language and its perception by Czech learners

Abstract:

This dissertation is about l’écriture inclusive, which can be translated as gender-inclusive language. The work’s theoretical framework focuses on propositions how to improve the representation of women in the language and thus in the society. The propositions are highly discussed in France, and as the gender equality is important and actual topic today, the dissertation tries to describe the phenomenon within its pros and cons, introducing and describing singular propositions. The practical part consists of description of preparation and progress of courses, that were taught in four different classes to present the topic to the students. Two of the classes were also questioned in order to obtain their point of view on gender-inclusive language. Their responses can be divided in two sections: one which concentrates on more of general opinion about the topic, and the other which goes more in deep, trying to learn which propositions of gender-inclusive language are acceptable for them and why.

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce pojednává o écriture inclusive, což může být přeloženo jako genderově-inkluzivní jazyk. Teoretická část se soustředí na jednotlivé návrhy, které by měly sloužit ke zviditelnění žen v jazyce a potažmo zlepšovat jejich pozici ve společnosti. Jednotlivé propozice jsou ve Francii hojně diskutovány, a jelikož jsou otázky rovnocennosti pohlaví dnes velmi aktuální, tak se práce snaží popsat tento fenomén spolu s klady a zápory, představujíc jednotlivé návrhy. Praktická část sestává z návrhů hodin vytvořených právě pro seznámení žáků s tématem a jednotlivými propozicemi, popisu průběhu hodin, které byly vyučovány ve čtyřech různých tří-dách. Dvě ze tříd byly také vyzpovídány za účelem získání jejich úhlu pohledu na toto téma. Položené otázky můžeme rozdělit do dvou kategorií: první mířící spíše na obecný názor žáků na na toto téma, a druhou, kde se studenti měli vyjádřit k jednotlivým návrhům écriture inclusive, a popsat, které pro ně jsou (ne)přijatelné a proč.
