Surface treatment of furniture suitable for restaurant hospitality

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou materiálů a povrchových úprav nábytku, převážně stolů, které jsou určeny do restaurací a jiných pohostinných zařízení. Práce je rozdělena na dvě základní části, literární a praktickou. Literární část poskytuje stručný přehled o soudobých materiálech a nátěrových hmotách, doplněných o typologii sedacího a stolového nábytku určených do pohostinství. Praktická část práce se věnuje výběru vhodných materiálů, jejich úpravě a zkoušení odolnosti proti fyzikálně-mechanickému a chemickému působení. Podkladovým materiálem byly zvoleny čtyři druhy masivního dřeva s ohledem na nejčastější použití v tomto odvětví, s výjimkou jedné tropické dřeviny. Vzorky byly upraveny pomocí technologie stříkání čtyřmi druhy nátěrových hmot. Po dokončení a uplynutí potřebné doby bylo zahájeno testování odolnosti proti působení vnějších faktorů. Postup zkoušek a jejich vyhodnocení probíhaly dle požadavků příslušných norem. Výsledkem práce je posouzení a výběr vhodných kombinací podkladu a povrchové úpravy s ohledem pro použití na stolové desky a jejich následnému namáhání.

Abstract:

The diploma thesis deals with the issue of materials and surface finishes of furniture, mainly tables, which are intended for restaurants and other hospitality facilities. The thesis is divided into two main parts, literary and practical. The literature part provides a brief overview of contemporary materials and coatings, complemented by a typology of seating and table furniture intended for hospitality. The practical part of the thesis is devoted to the selection of suitable materials, their treatment and testing for resistance to physical, mechanical and chemical action. Four types of solid wood were chosen as the base material, taking into account the most common applications in this sector, with the exception of one tropical wood species. The samples were treated with four types of coatings using spraying technology. After completion and the necessary time, testing of resistance to external factors was started. The testing procedure and evaluation were carried out according to the requirements of the relevant standards. The result of the work is the assessment and selection of suitable combinations of substrate and surface treatment with respect to the use on table tops and their subsequent stresses.
