Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se věnuje klasickému anglickému gotickému románu a jeho recepci v české literatuře pomocí komentovaného soupisu. Cílem práce je zdokumentovat nejdůležitější texty na toto téma, a to příklady jak románů anglických v českých překladech, tak českých, které byly napsány mezi počátkem 19. století a rokem 1945, a jejich recepci v odborné literatuře, a také odborné literatuře věnované gotickému románu jako žánru obecně (od počátku až po současnost). Práce se dále snaží zachytit proměny vnímání tohoto žánru a jeho recepce v české literatuře v čase.

Abstract:

This bachelor’s thesis explores the topic of the English Gothic Novel and its reception in Czech literature through an annotated bibliography. The thesis aims to document the most significant texts that deal with the topic of Gothic Fiction including examples of both English fiction in Czech translation and Czech fiction written between the beginning of the 19th century and the year 1945. It also examines the reception of these texts in scientific literature, as well as Czech scientific literature concerned with Gothic Fiction in general (from its beginning to the present day). The thesis also attempts to capture the evolution of the genre and its perception in Czech literature over time.
