The Role of the Capital Market in Financing of a Company - Problem of the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Práce se věnuje institucím zajišťujícím financování společností v České republice. Zabývá se rovněž vývojem těchto institucí i jejich aktuální situací a také srovnáním s dalšími vybranými státy. Komparace se zaměřuje především na Polsko, které také prošlo v 90. letech minulého století transformací, avšak vývoj na kapitálovém trhu byl od toho českého odlišný. Na základě zjištěných údajů nebyla nalezena výrazná změna poměru mezi bankovním financováním a financováním prostřednictvím kapitálového trhu v České republice. Práce se dále zabývá důvody, proč podniky méně využívají český kapitálový trh. Důvody tkví zejména v transformaci české ekonomiky, která způsobila nedůvěru českého kapitálového trhu jak ze strany společností, tak i ze strany investorů. Podstatnou součástí práce je také analýza problémů, se kterými se setkaly vybrané společnosti, které v minulosti usilovaly o uvedení na Burzu cenných papírů Praha prostřednictvím primární veřejné emise akcií. Na základě těchto informací jsou pak vyvozena doporučení pro úspěšné provedení primární veřejné emise akcií.

Abstract:

The thesis is dedicated to the institutions that provide financing to companies in the Czech Republic. It also examines the development and the current situation of these institutions and the comparison with several countries. The comparison is focused mainly on Poland which as well as the Czech Republic went through the transformation process in the 1990s, however its development on the capital market was different from the czech one. The collected data shows no distinctive change of proportion between the bank financing and financing by the capital market in the Czech Republic. The thesis is then concerned with the causes of low utilisation of the czech capital market by the companies. The reasons lie particularly in the transformation of the czech economics which caused disbilief on the czech capital market on the side of the companies as well as the stakeholders. The significant part of this thesis is the analysis of problems which selected companies had to face when they attempted to issue shares on the Prague Stock Exchange through initial public offering. Recommendations for the successful initial public offering are made.
