Communication specifications of hearing impaired individuals and their options within the labor market in 2020 in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá profesní integrací osob se sluchovým postižením v České republice. Hlavním cílem je identifikovat problematické okruhy trhu práce v kontextu sluchově hendikepovaných jedinců a na základě zjištěných poznatků analyzovat jejich možnosti na trhu práce. Podkladem pro empirickou část jsou teoretické poznatky, které přináší ucelený přehled současných znalostí o zkoumané problematice. V teoretické části je představeno sluchové postižení, specifika komunikace osob se sluchovou vadou a současný stav a vývoj trhu práce ve vztahu ke sluchově znevýhodněným lidem. Téma je také zasazeno do kontextu ekonomických teorií problematiky. V praktické části je proveden kvalitativně-kvantitativní výzkum, na jehož základě jsou podrobně rozebrány zkoumané okruhy, jako jsou profesní příprava sluchově hendikepovaných, zaměstnávání osob se sluchovým postižením, diskriminace na trhu práce nebo také tlumočnické služby či vývoj trhu práce v letech 2011–2021. Prostřednictvím kvalitativního a kvantitativního výzkumu dochází k analýze a syntéze dílčích dat, na jejichž základě jsou interpretovány závěry diplomové práce. Je zjištěno, že možnosti sluchově postižených osob jsou nejvíce omezeny při vstupu na trh práce především kvůli předsudkům společnosti. Dále se jedná o složitý přístup k informacím sluchově znevýhodněných, neochotu zaměstnavatelů přizpůsobit pracovní prostředí či o omezenou možnost investovat do lidského kapitálu. Důležitou roli také sehrává druh sluchové vady, kdy nejvíce zúžené možnosti na trhu práce mají osoby neslyšící, dále osoby ohluchlé a nejméně znevýhodněny jsou osoby nedoslýchavé. Obecně sluchově postižení jedinci dosahují vyšší míry nezaměstnanosti než běžná populace České republiky. Dle zjištěných poznatků jsou vyřčena národohospodářská doporučení pro zefektivnění zkoumané oblasti.

Abstract:

The main subject of the diploma thesis is the professional integration of hearing-impaired individuals in the Czech Republic. The main goal is to identify problematic areas of the labor market in the context of hearing-impaired individuals and to analyze their opportunities in the labor market on the basis of the findings. The basis for the empirical part is theoretical knowledge, which provides a comprehensive overview of current knowledge about the researched issues. The theoretical part describes hearing impairment, the specifics of communication of people with hearing impairment, and the current state and development of the labor market in relation to hearing-impaired people. The topic is also set in the context of economic theories. In the practical part, qualitative-quantitative research is carried out, on the basis of which research areas such as vocational training for the hearing impaired, employment of the hearing-impaired, discrimination in the labor market, or interpreting services or labor market development in 2011-2021 are analyzed in detail. Through qualitative and quantitative research, partial data is analyzed and synthesized, on the basis of which the conclusions of the diploma thesis are interpreted. It is found that the possibilities of the hearing impaired are most limited when entering the labor market, mainly due to the prejudices of society. It is also complex access to information for the hearing impaired, the reluctance of employers to adapt to the work environment or the limited opportunity to invest in human capital, that makes it more difficult for hearing-impaired in the labor market. An important role is also played by the type of hearing impairment, where the most restricted opportunities in the labor market have deaf people, people deafened, and the least disadvantaged are individuals hard of hearing. In general, hearing-impaired people have higher unemployment rates than the general population of the Czech Republic. According to the findings, national economic recommendations are made to streamline the research area.
