Práce je zaměřena na posouzení významu bankovního sektoru pro národní hospodářství. V první části se práce věnuje vymezení základních pojmů vztahujících se k bankovnictví. Ve druhé části se práce zaměřuje na hodnocení bankovního sektoru v Československu, poté na nově vznikající bankovní sektor v České republice po roce 1993 a následně i Eurosystému. The work is aimed at assessing the importance of the banking sector to the national economy. The first part deals with the definition of basic concepts related to banking. The second part focuses on the assessment of the banking sector in Czechoslovakia, then the emerging banking sector in the Czech Republic after 1993 and subsequent operations.
