Platform for Querying Cybersecurity Data

Abstract:

This thesis aims to design and implement a prototype of a platform that can be used to process, analyze, and retain data from the cybersecurity environment. Based on the requirements of the thesis supervisor, a high-level design was created. It consists of several components that have been designed and implemented to each represents one specific role within the resulting platform. The first is the component that is responsible for receiving and preprocessing the data. The second is the event bus, which distributes them within the platform. Furthermore, the third is a set of three applications that have been developed to create a centralized way to analyze the received data. The last part is a component designed for the retention of processed data. At the end of the thesis, a simple example of use is presented, designed to demonstrate the functionality of the platform's final form. In addition to the mentioned applications, the thesis's practical output also includes a set of scripts and files that can be used for simple deployment of the mentioned platform design.

Abstract:

Cieľom práce je navrhnúť a implementovať prototyp platformy, ktorý by bol využiteľný pre potreby spracovania, analýzy a retencie dát pochádzajúcich z kyberbezpečnostného prostredia. Na základe požiadaviek vedúceho práce bol vytvorený jej vysokoúrovňový návrh. Ten sa skladá z niekoľkých komponentov, ktoré boli navrhnuté a implementované tak, aby každý z nich zastupoval v rámci výslednej platformy jednu špecifickú rolu. Prvým je komponent, ktorý je zodpovedný za prijímanie a predspracovanie dát. Druhým je zbernica udalostí zabezpečujúca ich distribúciu v rámci platformy. Ďalším je sada troch aplikácií, ktoré boli vyvinuté za účelom vytvorenia centralizovaného spôsobu analyzovania prijímaných dát. Poslednou časťou je komponent určený pre účely retencie spracovávaných dát. V závere práce je predstavený jednoduchý príklad použitia, ktorý je určený pre demonštrovanie funkčnosti výslednej podoby platformy. Súčasťou praktického výstupu práce je, mimo spomínaných aplikácií, aj sada skriptov a súborov, ktoré je možné použiť pre jednoduché nasadenie spomínaného návrhu platformy.
