Paseka Publishing House – From Manuscript Acquisition to Promotion

Abstract:

Magisterská diplomová práce se věnuje nakladatelství Paseka a zkoumá v porovnání s odbornou literaturou, jak funguje její redakční proces a co vše předchází vydání knižního titulu. Práce je postavena na dvou základních částech, a to na části teoretické a praktické. V teoretické části se práce věnuje aktuální situaci na českém knižním trhu, historii nakladatelství Paseka, popisu redakčního procesu z hlediska teorie, ekonomickým aspektům fungování nakladatelství a knižnímu marketingu. Praktická část je založena na kvalitativním výzkumu, který byl tvořen na základě případové studie za pomoci rozhovorů se zaměstnanci Paseky. Rozhovory jsou v praktické části komentovány a srovnávány s odbornou literaturou. Cíl práce: Cílem magisterské diplomové práce je zanalyzovat postupy, které předchází vydání knižního titulu a pokusit se ukázat, jak reálně funguje práce ve středně velkém nakladatelství.

Abstract:

The master's thesis is devoted to the Paseka publishing house and examines, in comparison with professional literature, how its editorial process works and what all precedes the publication of a book title. The work is built on two basic parts, namely the theoretical and practical parts. In the theoretical part, the thesis deals with the current situation on the Czech book market, the history of the Paseka publishing house, a description of the editorial process from the point of view of theory, economic aspects of the publishing house's functioning and book marketing. The practical part is based on research that was created on the basis of qualitative research with the help of interviews with Paseka employees. The interviews are commented on in the practical part and compared with professional literature. Objective of the thesis: The objective of the master's thesis is to analyze the procedures that precede the publication book title and try to show how working in a medium-sized publishing house really works.
