The fundamental theorem of Algebra

Abstract:

Cílem této práce je nabídnout čtenáři ucelený pohled na problematiku základní věty algebry se zaměřením na její důkazy. Tato věta je nejprve v úvodu formulována; následuje pojednání o jejím postavení v kontextu vývoje algebry v jejím původním pojetí jako nauky o řešení rovnic. Na tuto historickou část navazuje přehled prvních důkazů základní věty algebry včetně popisu myšlenek a postupů v nich užitých. Stěžejní část potom tvoří soubor vybraných důkazů této věty, které jsou zjednodušeně rozděleny na algebraické a analytické.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the Fundamental theorem of Algebra with a focus on its various proofs. Its main purpose is to give a comprehensive insight into the matter. Firstly, the theorem is stated; then follows a description of its role in the context of Algebra development. Then an overview of first proofs of the theorem is provided describing briefly its thoughts and methods. The crucial part of the thesis comprises of a collection of proofs, which are simply divided into two cathegories: the algebraic and the analytic proofs.
