Vegetation changes in acidophilous dry grasslands of south-western Moravia after three decades

Abstract:

Biodiverzita přírodních ekosystémů je vystavována stále sílícímu tlaku člověka. Její proměnu v čase je proto nutné monitorovat. K porovnání dlouhodobých změn rostlinných společenstvech bývá využíváno opakování historických fytocenologických snímků. Na jihozápadní Moravě zapsal v letech 1986–1993 snímky vegetace dříve pasených suchých acidofilních trávníků a vřesovišť Milan Chytrý. Vzhledem k upuštění od pastvy během 20. století, byla proměna dané vegetace očekávána. V letech 2018–2019 proto byly jeho snímky zopakovány. Byla zjištěna významná proměna rostlinných společenstev. Průměrný počet druhů na snímek klesl o 17 %. Poklesl podíl ohrožených druhů, naopak nepůvodních druhů, především archeofytů, přibylo. Výrazně se rozšířil především ovsík vyvýšený (Arrhenatherum elatius) a další především nitrofilní a ruderální druhy. Nejvíce ustoupily druhy Campanula moravica, Carlina acaulis a Lotus corniculatus. Na lokalitách bez územní ochrany byla zjištěna větší negativní změna než na lokalitách s ochranou. Ve srovnání se studovanou vegetací suchých trávníků nebyl pokles druhové bohatosti zaznamenán v suchých vřesovištích.

Abstract:

Biodiversity of natural ecosystems is experiencing an increasingly intense pressure from humans. Therefore, it is necessary to monitor its temporal change. Long-term changes of plant communities are often assessed by resurveys of historical phytosociological relevés. The vegetation of historically grazed acidophilous dry grasslands and heathlands in southwestern Moravia (Czech Republic) was documented by relevés sampled by Milan Chytrý in 1986–1993. A shift of this vegetation was expected due to the abandonment of grazing during the 20th century. Therefore, these relevés were repeated in 2018–2019. A significant change in plant communities was found. The average number of species per relevé decreased by 17 %. The percentage of endangered species decreased whereas the percentage of non-native species, represented mainly by archaeophytes, increased. Especially Arrhenatherum elatius spread significantly, as well as other nitrophytes and species with ruderal strategy. In contrast, the frequency of Campanula moravica, Carlina acaulis and Lotus corniculatus mostly decreased. A more substantial negative change was observed in areas without protection than in protected areas. Unlike in the vegetation of acidophilous dry grasslands, no decline in species number was found in dry heathlands.
