Adolescents and psychological context of cyberbullying from the victims point of view

Abstract:

Práce se zabývá problematikou kyberšikany u dospívajících a psychologickými jevy z pohledu obětí. Autorka v teoretické části uvádí charakteristiky šikany a kyberšikany jako její nové formy dané zneužitím informačních a komunikačních technologií se zaměřením na prostředí internetu. Výzkumná část se soustředí na psychologické souvislosti a situaci obětí, jejich prožívání a vnímání dané zkušenosti, dále na okolnostech vzniku, vývoje a řešení kyberšikany. Ve kvalitativním explorativním výzkumu autorka získala data pomocí techniky online polostrukturovaného rozhovoru. Data následně zpracovala metodou zakotvené teorie. Základní kategorie, která z výzkumu vyplynula, jsou způsoby zvládání kyberšikany, ke které se vztahují další kategorie jako jsou negativní reakce na kyberšikanu, sociální opora, formy kyberšikany a vztah agresora a oběti. Výsledek výzkumu lze shrnout tak, že u participantů převažovala snaha aktivně řešit problém, což se projevilo změnou chování na internetu, komunikací s agresorem a v menší míře požádáním o radu a svěření se přátelům, ne však rodičům. Mezi emocionálními způsoby vyrovnávání se s danou situací převažovala tendence ignorovat agresorovo obtěžování a zaměřit se na své přátele. Mezi negativními reakcemi na kyberšikanu se objevila tendence k izolaci, vyhýbavému chování a ke zvýšené agresivitě. Důležitou roli hrála sociální opora poskytovaná okolím. Nejčastějším důvodem ke kyberšikaně byla žárlivost, dále potom: vzhled, styl oblékání, rasismus, pobavení agresora, fyzický útok a zastání se jiné oběti.. Nejpoužívanějším nástrojem byly osobní profily na lide.cz a icq, dále potom spoluzaci.cz, chat, webové stránky, e-mail, sms a mms, online hry. Nejčastějším způsobem obtěžování byla slovní agrese, dále krádež fotografií, fotomontáž a zneužití osobních údajů.. Největší negativní dopad na oběti měla fotomontáž a vyhrožování.

Abstract:

The work deals with cyberbullying of adolescents, and psychological phenomena from the perspective of the victims. The author states in the theoretical part of the characteristics of bullying and cyberbullying. The new forms of misuse of information and communication technologies were observed with a focus on the internet. The research is partly focused on the psychological context and the situation of victims, their experience and perception of the experience, and the circumstances of the emergence, development and solutions of cyberbullying. Author obtained data using techniques of semi-structured online interviews, which were subsequently processed by the analysis theory. The basic category from the research of cyberbullying is the way how to have a good command of it. It is related to other categories such as adverse reactions to cyberbullying, social support, forms of cyberbullingand relations between the aggressor and the victim. The result of research can be summarized so that the participant actively addressed the problem, It resulted in the change of behavior on the Internet, communications with the agresor. Less common was requesting the advice and the delegation of problem to the friends but no to the parents. The emotional ways of managing the situation were usually solved by ignoring the cyberbullying and by orientation on friends. The adverse reactions on cyberbullying occurreed as tendency to isolation, noncommittal behavior and increased aggressiveness. The social support provided by the other people played an iportant role. The most common reason for cyberbullying was jealousnessy, then: appearance, style of dressing, racism, entertainment aggressor, physical assault and advocacy to other victims. The most commonly used tool were the personal profiles at lide.cz and icq, then spoluzaci.cz, chat, web sites, e-mail, SMS and MMS, online games. The most common way of cyberbullying was verbal aggression, than theft of photographs, photomontage and the misuse of personal data. Photomontage and threats presented the biggest negative impact on the victims.
